The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), will be responsible for assisting the provider in preparing patients and their charts for clinical appointments. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to managing the flow of clients through the clinic, obtaining vital signs, and assisting the provider in clinical procedures. Travel between Bowen Health service locations may be required for coverage of clinic services.

(4) 10 hour working days Monday through Thursday.

Monday (9a-7pm)

Tuesday - Thursday (8a-6pm)

Duties/Responsibilities:

Below are the primary duties and essential functions of an employee in this position. While not all tasks may be performed by every employee in this role, all employees are expected to perform related tasks as needed. These essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Prepare client charts/information for the provider appointments, ensuring that documentation isaccurateand comprehensive.
  • Obtain and document vital signs.
  • Complete thorough medication reconciliation.
  • Track and coordinate data pertinent to client plan of care.
  • Provide medication education and care instructions.
  • Manage patient medicationassistance processes.
  • Complete prior authorizations for medications and procedures.
  • Use standard precautions/OSHA guidelinesinpatient care and disposal of medical waste.
  • Review all outpatient medication storage and administration locations for monthly pharmacy review.
  • Track and log refrigerator temperatures and equipment maintenance.
  • Complete continuing education to maintain medical assisting
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occupational Exposure Risk Classification:
    The normal work routine involvesmoderate exposure to blood, body fluids,or tissues.
  • The normal work routine has aminimal ergonomic risk for repetitive motion impairment.
  • The position may require amoderate amount of physical exertion (bending, lifting, twisting) in the work area.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:

    Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant credentialsrequired.
  • Experience:

    Prefer one (1) yearof experience working in a medical office and/or psychiatric setting.
  • Certificate or Professional License:
  • Certification in Medical Assisting through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Health Career Association (NHA) or registered Medical Assistant in the state of Indiana.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
    -certification must be obtained afterhire and prior to providing direct patient care. This certification must bemaintainedand kept current through employment.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid
    -certification must be obtained afterhire and prior to providing direct patient care. This certification must bemaintainedand kept current through employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and activeauto insurance coverage.
  • Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks
  • Must be aminimum of21years of age.
