The Program Assist antis responsible forthefacilitationof activity programs for Milton that reflect the varied interests of the guests and provide them with meaningful andlife enriching activities. Thispositionhas a substantial impact on the Day Center’s ability to further its mission toassistourgueststhrough providing varied, well planned,appropriate, andmeaningfulactivities.
The Program Assistant will facilitate programming together with the Life Enrichment Coordinator that encompasses all facets of an individual’s being: physical, social, intellectual, artistic, and spiritual, and that includes activities in and outside of Milton.
Therapeutic Programming:- Implements all activities/clubsof the therapeutic activity programas guided by the Life Enrichment Coordinator.
- Assistin adjustment in activity/social service programming as needed.
- Conduct or oversee activities/clubsas needed, encouraging guest involvement.
- Coordinate special events, including holiday event sunder guidance of
Life Enrichment Coordinator and Director. Decorate Milton according to current holiday or event. - Practice infection control techniques and goodhand-washing practice before and after all activities.
- Develop knowledge of Milton policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations pertaining to activity programming.
- Carry out other duties as assigned byLife Enrichment Coordinator and/or Director to fulfill the mission of the organization.
- Participate in daily record keeping and documentation as assigned.
- Facilitates group discussions.
- In keeping with Milton policy, administers First Aid and CPR treatments. Maintains CPR and First Aid certification.
- Practices environmental safety and sanitation.
- Provides input and support to other staff.
- Monitor participant safety, i.e.,wandering, falls, fire, choking, and complete occurrence reports as needed.
- Identify each participant’s changing needs and make progress notesregardingtheir physical, social, and emotional status.
- Promote positive relationships with staff, families, andguests.
- Be able to effectively communicate with guests who have Alzheimer’s and other types of Dementia.
- Maintain a positiveenvironmenton the floor.

- Light work involves exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, and otherwise move objects. Involves bending, squatting, and reaching. Position requires being on yourfeetmost ofthe day.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Current First Aid and CPR training.
- CNA preferred.
One year geriatric/disabled experience. Valid driver’s license.
