This is a hospital-based ultrasound position providing a variety of diagnostic imaging services in a collaborative patient care environment.
General and Vascular sonography experience preferred.
Clinical ExposureThe selected candidate will perform general ultrasound examinations and support a wide range of patient populations across the hospital.
Candidates with experience in the following procedures are preferred:
- Thoracentesis
- Paracentesis
- Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA)
This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a skilled imaging team while expanding procedural and hospital-based ultrasound experience.
Call Requirements- Participation in the overnight ultrasound call rotation is required
- Call coverage hours are 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM when assigned
- Call responsibilities are rotated among ultrasound team members
- Rotating holiday coverage is expected
Please note that this is a new facility, and schedules may evolve as operational needs become clearer following the hospital's opening. The schedule listed above reflects the anticipated hours at launch.
Planned start dates for these positions are March 2027
. Team members will complete orientation and training prior to the facility opening on May 1, 2027
.
Training may include rotations through:
- Ball Memorial Hospital
- Existing Fort Wayne outpatient locations
- The new Fort Wayne hospital department prior to opening
These rotations are designed to provide exposure to a wide variety of procedures and patient populations that may not currently be available in local Fort Wayne outpatient settings.
Most positions will participate in a rotating holiday schedule.

Job Duties , Tasks andQualifications:
Provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound to generate images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment. Evaluates images for diagnostic quality and makes necessary adjustments to capture the best possible images. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information. Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients correctly, and adjusting equipment as needed.
Familiar with current scan protocols. Maintains compliance with high level disinfection practices. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed. Possesses familiarity with ultrasound contrast indications and administration practices. Provides intraoperative ultrasound as requested.
- Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
- Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
- For ACR accredited ultrasound departments. Requires active status through one of the following:
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS):
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
- Abdomen, RDMS(AB), Obstetrics & Gynecology, RDMS(OB/GYN), or Pediatric Sonography, RDMS(PS), and/or Registered Vascular Technologist
- Vascular Technology , RVT(VT);
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT):
Registered Technologist
- Sonography, RT(S) or Vascular Sonography, RT(VS) ; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI):
