The Spa Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the spa facility, ensuring a high level of guest service, cleanliness, organization, staff productivity, and operational efficiency. This position supports the overall success of the spa by managing daily scheduling, payroll, inventory control, guest satisfaction, budget awareness, retail/spa product management, and staff performance.
The Spa Supervisor ensures that all spa services, guest interactions, treatment areas, locker rooms, relaxation areas, fitness areas, pool areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained according to hotel standards. This position works closely with Spa team members, Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Accounting, Human Resources, and hotel leadership to ensure smooth operations, proper communication, and a consistent luxury guest experience.
The Spa Supervisor is expected to lead by example, provide support and direction to spa employees, monitor service standards, assist with revenue opportunities, control expenses, and ensure that all guests receive professional, welcoming, and attentive service.
Position AuthorityThe Spa Supervisor has the authority to oversee the daily operation of the spa and provide direction to Spa Front Desk Agents, Massage Therapists, Salon Specialists, attendants, and any other assigned spa personnel.
This position has the authority to:
- Approve and adjust daily staff assignments based on business levels, appointments, and operational needs.
- Monitor employee attendance, breaks, punctuality, and productivity.
- Review and submit payroll information for approval in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Assist with scheduling and make recommendations to ensure proper coverage while controlling labor costs.
- Address guest concerns and service issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Communicate maintenance, cleanliness, safety, or service concerns to the appropriate department.
- Monitor inventory levels and request supplies, retail products, linens, amenities, and operational items as needed.
- Ensure spa employees follow all hotel policies, safety standards, uniform guidelines, service procedures, and sanitation requirements.
- Coach employees when standards are not being met and escalated performance concerns to hotel leadership or Human Resources when necessary.
- Support budget control by monitoring labor, supplies, retail usage, product waste, and operational expenses.
- Make daily operational decisions necessary to maintain guest satisfaction and spa standards.
The Spa Supervisor must maintain a professional, calm, and service-focused approach at all times. This position requires strong leadership, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to balance guest service with financial responsibility.
The Spa Supervisor is expected to:
- Represent the hotel and spa in a professional and positive manner.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding guest information, employee matters, payroll, revenue, and hotel business.
- Follow all hotel policies, spa procedures, safety guidelines, sanitation standards, and brand/service expectations.
- Ensure all spa areas are clean, organized, properly stocked, and ready for guest use at all times.
- Promote a welcoming and relaxing environment for guests and a respectful work environment for employees.
- Maintain strong communication with hotel leadership and other departments.
- Ensure that employee schedules are prepared based on business demands, appointments, payroll guidelines, and service needs.
- Monitor expenses and make operational decisions that support budget control.
- Ensure accurate handling of spa bookings, payments, cancellations, commissions, discounts, and retail sales.
- Support revenue growth through proper booking procedures, guest follow-up, retail sales, upselling, spa packages, and promotions.
