Position: HR Process Specialist (Contract)
Location: Indianapolis

Allison Transmission is searching for an experienced HR Process Specialist for a contract role in Indianapolis, IN. As the HR Process Specialist, you are responsible for capturing, organizing, and maintaining comprehensive documentation of HR processes across the organization. This role partners closely with process owners to develop clear process maps, work instructions, policies, knowledge articles for employees, managers, and HR staff, and RACI matrices.

Additionally, this position submits and manages Service Now sprint requests to implement updated knowledge articles and intake forms. The goal is to ensure HR operations are standardized, transparent, and easily understood across all stakeholder groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with HR process owners and subject-matter experts to understand, document, and maintain HR operational processes.
  • Audit and update process maps, HR work instructions, standard operating procedures, and policy documents provided by HR process owners.
  • Ensure knowledge articles are tailored for employees, managers, and HR teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve or streamline documentation to enhance usability and accuracy.
  • Create requests for Service Now sprints to implement new or updated knowledge articles, workflows, and intake forms.
  • Ensure documentation conforms to formatting standards, content governance rules, and version control processes.
  • Facilitate regular reviews with process owners to ensure documentation remains current.
  • Support training and change management efforts through documentation and guidance materials as needed.

  • Timeliness of completing documentation requests and updates.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction with documented processes and artifacts.
  • Reduction in process-related errors or inquiries due to improved documentation.

  • Compliance with content governance, standards, and audit requirements.

Experience & Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Technical Writing, Organizational Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–5 years of experience in HR operations, process documentation, technical writing, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing standard operating procedures and knowledge content for varied audiences.
  • Proven ability to work with subject-matter experts and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to flex working hours to accommodate HR teams in different time zones.

Preferred

  • Project Management Certification.
  • Experience with AI, workflow and process mapping tools (e.g., Co‑pilot, Mermaid, Visio, Lucidchart).
  • Familiarity with Service Now, especially knowledge management and HR ticket intake functionality, strongly preferred.
