Senior Vice President of Talent & Chief People Officeris amission‑driven, strategic executive who serves as a key member of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis Strategic Leadership Team. In this role, the CPO leads the design and implementation of apeople‑focused strategy that enhances organizational effectiveness, advances talent development, strengthens cultural alignment, and supports operational excellence across the entire association. This leader embodies the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility while cultivating an inclusive,high‑performing culture.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver visionary leadership for HR and People Operations, ensuring all strategies are aligned with the YMCA’s mission, business objectives, andlong‑term strategic plan.
- Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, senior leadership, and Board of Directors on all talent, culture, and workforce priorities.
- Lead organizational change management and culture transformation initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, performance, and development.
- Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and global engagement strategies throughout all programs, policies, and organizational practices.
- Oversee the full employee lifecycle—including attraction, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and retention—to build a strong and sustainable workforce.
- Direct leadership development, coaching, and learning programs that develop emerging talent and prepare high‑potential employees for future roles.
- Assess leadership and staff capabilities, organizational structure, and talent readiness; recommend improvements that enhance alignment and elevate organizational performance.
- Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive total rewards strategy encompassing compensation, benefits, wellness, and employee recognition programs.
- Ensure organizational compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws as well as board-approved policies.
- Track evolving workforce trends and regulatory updates; proactively adjust HR policies, processes, and programs tomaintainalignment and ensure best practices.
- Develop and manage the HR department’s annual budget, conducting regular cost and productivity analyses to inform decision‑making.
- Drive operational excellence through process improvement and optimization of HR systems and technologies, including HRIS, reporting, and analytics.
- Lead and activelyparticipatein key YMCA committees, including HR/Leadership Development, Executive Compensation, Employee Resource Groups, and national YMCA peer networks.
- Perform other duties/assignments as needed at the YMCA.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Organizational Development, Business, or related field required;
Master’s degree preferred. - 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in HR, talent, or organizational development.
- Demonstrated success advising senior leaders and working across diverse organizational levels.
- Experience leading in mission‑driven or nonprofit environments preferred.
