Diverse Staffing is seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources & Risk Director to lead our employee services, compliance, safety, workers' compensation, unemployment, and risk management functions across a multi-state staffing operation.

This role is responsible for protecting the organization, supporting our people, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing positive employee experience for both internal employees and our contingent workforce. The Human Resources & Risk Director serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and plays a critical role in supporting organizational growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute company-wide HR and employee services strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Oversee onboarding, employee relations, engagement, retention, and offboarding programs.
  • Provide guidance on workplace investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, and policy administration.
  • Lead employee engagement and retention initiatives for internal staff and temporary associates.
  • Oversee benefits administration, leave management, wellness initiatives, and employee development programs.
  • Develop leadership training and management coaching programs.
  • Utilize workforce analytics to improve employee satisfaction, retention, and operational performance.
  • Lead enterprise-wide risk management initiatives across all staffing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, OSHA, EEO, workers' compensation, unemployment, I-9 compliance, and background screening requirements.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies that reduce organizational liability and legal exposure.
  • Direct compliance audits and corrective action initiatives.
  • Maintain regulatory readiness and employment practices liability controls.
Workers' Compensation & Claims Management
  • Oversee workers' compensation administration and claims management programs.
  • Partner with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, legal counsel, and medical providers.
  • Develop return-to-work and modify duty initiatives.
  • Analyze claims trends and implement strategies to reduce frequency, severity, and costs.
  • Monitor reserves, settlements, and claim closure performance.
Safety Leadership
  • Lead company-wide workplace safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and client safety requirements.
  • Conduct accident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Develop and maintain client-facing safety programs and site assessments.
  • Track and improve key safety metrics including incident rates, DART rates, lost-time injuries, and workers' compensation costs.
  • Deliver safety training programs for management teams and field employees.
Unemployment & Employment Practices
  • Oversee unemployment claims administration, hearings, and cost-containment strategies.
  • Ensure proper documentation related to attendance, discipline, and separations.
  • Manage employment-related matters and coordinate with outside legal counsel when necessary.
  • Support investigations involving employee complaints, discrimination claims, and regulatory inquiries.
Strategic Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on workforce, compliance, and risk-related matters.
  • Develop departmental budgets and key performance indicators.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Support organizational growth, branch expansion, acquisitions, and strategic business initiatives.
  • Present workforce, compliance, safety, and risk metrics to executive leadership.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Risk Management, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources, employee relations, risk management, safety, staffing, or workforce solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience leading multiple teams or departments.
  • Experience with in staffing, recruiting, workforce solutions, or light industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, workers' compensation, unemployment, and safety regulations.
Preferred
  • Master's Degree (MBA, MHRM, or related discipline).
  • Temporary staffing industry experience.
  • Experience managing workers' compensation and safety programs.
Preferred Certifications
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, ARM (Associate in Risk Management)
