We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Expert with eDiscovery expertise to join our Roche Digital Technology (RDT) Group Functions eDiscovery and Forensics team. In this critical role you will act as the primary technical bridge between the RDT infrastructure team and the Business Product Owners in Legal and Compliance, supporting the technical aspects of eDiscovery and privacy processes, specializing in Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Premium) and ensuring defensible identification, collection, and preservation of electronically stored information (ESI) across a wide range of corporate systems, with a strong emphasis on Apple mobile ecosystems and mixed‑OS laptop environments.
Job Responsibilities- Plan and execute defensible procedures for forensic imaging and end‑to‑end eDiscovery workflows in Microsoft Purview, collecting data from Apple iPhones, iPads, Mac Books, and Windows‑based laptops.
- Recommend and perform data processing in Relativity and Purview Premium, preparing data for legal review using Boolean searching, culling, and TAR/AI, and making technology recommendations to achieve outcomes efficiently.
- Act as an IT liaison to internal and external counsel, translating complex technical concepts into clear legal realities and assisting in scoping preservation and collection efforts based on litigation holds.
- Respond accurately to time‑sensitive requests, develop and maintain SOPs for electronic data collections from company systems and devices, and manage secure storage and retirement of physical evidence.
- Coordinate logistics of remote and physical device acquisitions, including intake, secure storage, return, and retirement of evidence.
- Generate and maintain meticulous documentation for all preservation, collection, processing, and production activities, ensuring a verifiable chain of custody in line with the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).
- Utilize, update, troubleshoot, and manage the lifecycle of industry‑standard forensic and eDiscovery collection tools (e.g., Cellebrite, Druva, EnCase, FTK).
- Continuously evaluate and refine collection workflows to accommodate new OS updates and emerging security features, deploying automation and AI improvements.
- Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with legal, compliance, RDT, and external partners, translating technical concepts into comprehensible legal realities for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in eDiscovery, digital forensics, or specialized IT incident response, preferably within highly regulated industries (pharmaceuticals, healthcare, finance).
- Proven expertise in collecting ESI from iOS devices (iPhones/iPads) and macOS environments, including a deep understanding of Apple’s file systems (APFS), encryption (File Vault), and Mobile Device Management (MDM) interactions.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11 environments, NTFS, Bit Locker encryption, and remote collection methodologies.
- Hands‑on experience with mobile and computer forensic data collection software (e.g., Cellebrite UFED/Physical Analyzer, Druva, Cellebrite Digital Collector/Mac Quisition, EnCase).
- Prior discovery and/or privacy experience with a deep understanding of relevant national and international regulations, including EDRM lifecycle, legal holds, data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience coordinating multiple functional areas and stakeholders, managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to inspire trust with business stakeholders and communicate highly technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Relevant industry certifications: CFCE, CCE, EnCE, CCME, or GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner (GCFE/GCFA).
- RCA certification (Relativity One).
- Experience with enterprise eDiscovery platforms (Purview, Relativity, Exterro) and cloud data collections (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack).
- Proficiency in Power Shell for advanced search and reporting, experience with GenAI prompt writing for eDiscovery, Agentic AI, and data modeling.
