The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost‑effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise‑technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. About the IOT Security Operations Center (SOC)

SOC protects the Executive Branch agencies’ servers and workstations from threat actors with malicious intent. We monitor security events impacting current and future technology infrastructure. We partner in protecting and responding to our businesses while allowing them to innovate, build new products, and deploy new services in the execution of their agency missions.

Salary

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $70,122.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day In The Life
  • Assesses the quality of security controls, using performance indicators.
  • Assists in investigations of information security breaches to identify vulnerabilities and evaluate the damage.
  • Assists in managing documentation of computer security or emergency measure policies, procedures, or tests.
  • Monitors networks or systems for security breaches or intrusions.
  • Supports vulnerability assessments or analysis of information security systems.
  • Assists in developing information security standards and best practices.
  • Assists in developing or installing software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information.
  • Develops responses and recovery strategies for security breaches.
  • Identifies and recommends solutions to information security problems.
  • Helps develop plans to safeguard computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, disclosure or to meet emergency data processing needs.
  • Performs risk assessments or executes system tests to ensure the functioning of data processing activities or security measures.
  • Provides technical support to computer users for installation and use of security products.
  • Recommends information security enhancements to management.
  • Reviews security assessments for computing environments or checks for compliance with cybersecurity standards and regulations.
  • Scans networks, using vulnerability assessment tools to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Trains staff on, and oversees the use of, information security standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoots security and network problems.
