Join the team at Neal R. Gross and Co., a premier Court Reporting and Transcription services provider based out of the Washington, DC area. We cater to a diverse clientele, including local, state, and federal courts, the House of Representatives, the Department of Defense, and various private sector clients. We are currently seeking skilled Digital Court Reporters to accurately capture the verbatim record of Grand Jury Trials.
This exciting opportunity offers flexibility, with the option for remote and in-person assignments based on client needs. We're looking for candidates who can manage their schedule and commit to a range of assignments, from a few jobs a month to 2-3 per week, depending on their availability and location.
Key Responsibilities- Record clear and complete digital audio of legal proceedings, including depositions, hearings, and meetings.
- Administer oaths and actively participate in various legal proceedings.
- Monitor audio quality in real-time, annotating the record with speaker identifications and relevant notes.
- Maintain an organized and secure record of all proceedings, adhering to legal and confidentiality standards.
- Timely upload and submit audio files along with necessary annotations through our secure systems.
- Communicate effectively with our scheduling and production teams to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of materials.
- Represent Neal R. Gross and Co. professionally in all proceedings and interactions.
- Engage with high-profile clients, including federal and state government representatives and private industry stakeholders.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Digital Court Reporter in legal or governmental settings.
- Proficient in using digital recording software, annotation tools, and managing audio files.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong command of the English language.
- Able to work independently and adapt to dynamic environments in court or deposition settings.
- Experience with multi-speaker and technical proceedings.
- Familiarity with court terminology and procedures.
- Capability to pass security screenings for access to client sites, including government facilities.
- Availability for occasional short-notice assignments.
- AAERT Certification is strongly preferred.
- Laptop or computer equipped with digital recording software (e.g., For The Record , Liberty, Auto Script, Soniclear, or equivalent).
- High-quality microphones and backup recording devices.
- Reliable internet access for file transfers and virtual proceedings.
- Secure storage solutions for audio files and notes until submission.
This is a contract position with compensation based on experience, ranging from $25 to $45 per hour.
