Position Summary
The EDI Business Analyst is responsible for ensuring the efficient exchange of EDI data between the company, its customers, carriers, and suppliers. This role centers on configuring and maintaining EDI integrations within a proprietary Transportation Management System (TMS), which interfaces with Microsoft Logic Apps to facilitate seamless data exchange across stakeholders. A critical aspect of this position is understanding both back‑office and operational processes, particularly how they impact EDI transaction sets related to operations, invoicing, and financial workflows.
The EDI Business Analyst will implement, configure, monitor, and support EDI transactions, ensuring data integrity and compliance with business requirements. The role involves close collaboration with IT teams and various functional groups within the organization.
- EDI Configuration & Maintenance
- Configure and maintain EDI transactions within the proprietary TMS, ensuring integration with Microsoft Logic Apps.
- Assist with setup, testing, and support of EDI connections and mappings with trading partners.
- Develop and understand key EDI transaction sets (204, 211, 214, 210, 990, 997).
- Operational Support & Troubleshooting
- Work closely with back‑office teams to ensure accurate processing of EDI transactions related to operational, invoicing and financial workflows.
- Monitor, configure, and troubleshoot daily inbound and outbound EDI transactions.
- Investigate and resolve issues to minimize disruptions.
- Testing & Validation
- Assist in comprehensive end‑to‑end testing of EDI transactions with business users and external partners.
- Validate project deliverables in collaboration with developers.
- Develop detailed test cases.
- Documentation & Process Management
- Maintain up‑to‑date documentation for EDI policies, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Correct and reprocess any failed EDI translations or transmissions.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with internal teams, trading partners, and suppliers.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, milestones, challenges, and go‑live timelines.
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- System Maintenance & Optimization
- Continuously monitor, maintain, and optimize EDI integrations within the TMS and Microsoft Logic Apps.
- Provide Tier 1 technical support and troubleshooting for EDI‑related issues.
- Document system configurations and support procedures.
- Compliance & Standards
- Ensure EDI transactions comply with relevant industry standards, financial transaction protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up to date on evolving EDI technologies, integration trends, and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 0–2 years of experience in a Business or Technical Analyst role.
- 0–2 years of experience with EDI ANSI X12 and EDIFACT standards.
- 0–2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Exposure to integration platforms and technologies such as Logic Apps, Mulesoft, and others.
- Familiarity with integration connection protocols including FTP, SFTP, AS2, and VAN.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Highly organized, self‑driven, and detail‑oriented with excellent time‑management skills.
- Basic understanding of SQL.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams for communication and collaboration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical details to non‑technical audiences.
- Bilingual (Spanish & English) – highly preferred.
- Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Knowledge of data formats such as JSON and XML.
- Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies and integration practices.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and flowcharting.
- Degree in Management Information Systems or IT‑related fields.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
