Role Overview :

The IT Trainer / Instructional Design Specialist collaborates with business, technical, and program teams to design and deliver training that strengthens staff skills in using child welfare information systems, reporting tools, and digital communication platforms. You will create clear, user‑friendly materials such as job aids, guides, videos, and e‑learning modules, and provide virtual training for system updates and policy changes.

  • Instructional Design & Training Delivery:
    Ability to create effective learning experiences, develop clear materials, and deliver engaging virtual and in‑person training utilizing software such as Articulate and Camtasia.
  • Systems & Workflow Expertise:
    Strong understanding of Child Welfare agency information systems, digital tools, and child welfare operational processes to serve as a knowledgeable guide and subject matter expert.

This is an onsite role in the central DCS offices at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $70,122.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with business and technical teams to develop and implement training programs that improve staff proficiency in data entry in our child welfare agency information systems, reporting tools, and digital communication platforms.
  • Create user‑friendly training materials including job aids, quick reference guides, videos, and e-learning modules.
  • Deliver virtual training for system updates, policy changes, and new initiatives.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on technology‑supported practice, consulting with managers and frontline teams.
  • Partner with IT, program leadership, and user support teams to streamline processes and enhance the user experience.
