The Lead Learning Systems & Instructional Design Specialist reports to the Director of Instructional Design and Technology and occasionally serves in the Director's absence as needed. This full-time, 12-month position works closely with the Director to provide research-based support and training in instructional technology, instructional design, accessibility, and learning management systems.
The position supports the effective use of instructional technology across the College, partners with faculty and staff to develop engaging and accessible learning experiences, and assists with the maintenance and operation of classroom and online instructional technologies.
Minimum Qualifications- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Experience in IT systems administration, learning management system (LMS) management, or web development, with demonstrated expertise managing learning technologies, system integrations, or web platforms, preferably in a higher education environment.
- At least three years of experience in teaching and/or curriculum development, including experience with online, hybrid, and face-to-face instruction.
- Experience developing and facilitating instructor-led and self-paced training, preferably in virtual environments.
- Experience developing training and professional development programs for diverse audiences.
- Advanced knowledge of instructional design principles, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and best practices in curriculum and training design.
- Working knowledge of ADA and WCAG accessibility standards and demonstrated ability to create accessible instructional materials and remediate inaccessible documents.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency with one or more LMS platforms, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
- Experience providing end-user technical support and troubleshooting LMS and classroom instructional technology issues.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with online meeting and collaboration platforms such as Kaltura Classroom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or similar technologies.
- Working knowledge of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning.
- Commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and equitable practices in educational technology.
- Experience administering Blackboard Ultra.
- Experience with LTI 1.3 integrations.
- Experience working with APIs and data synchronization between an LMS and other internal or external platforms.
- Knowledge of IT security practices and applicable regulations, including FERPA, GDPR, and HIPAA.
- Experience maintaining or enforcing security policies designed to protect data and systems.
- Familiarity with HTML.
- Experience with Kaltura or other video management platforms.
- International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) certification, such as CPACC or ADS.
- Experience supporting instructional technology and classroom technology systems, including Crestron.
- Experience with recording studios, light boards, multimedia systems, or related instructional technology.
