- Assist with the administration, investigation, and resolution of bond forfeiture claims under the direction and guidance of experienced claims personnel. The Claims Specialist will communicate with bail agents, courts, attorneys, recovery vendors, and internal departments to obtain and maintain claim information, monitor forfeiture activity, process claim payments, ensure claim files are accurate and complete. This position will develop knowledge of applicable state statutes, company procedures, and bond forfeiture requirements while progressively assuming responsibility for routine claims.
KeyAccountabilities/Deliverables:
- Monitor assigned claim files and bond forfeiture activity and follow up with bail agents and courts to obtain required information.
- Process incoming claim-related mail and correspondence and maintain accurate electronic and physical claim files.
- Assist with the investigation and evaluation of routine bond forfeiture claims using established company procedures.
- Research and document basic claim information, court records, forfeiture notices, remission information, and related documentation.
- Communicate with bail agents, court clerks, attorneys, recovery vendors, and internal departments to obtain information needed to resolve claims.
- Update claim notes and status information in SAGE 100 and maintain accurate claim records.
- Monitor Open Claims Status Reports and follow up on outstanding information under established guidelines.
- Prepare routine correspondence, spreadsheets, check requests, and other claim-related documentation.
- Assist with Agent BUF account withdrawal paperwork and ensure required supporting documentation is received.
- Process routine remission and agent payments in accordance with company procedures.
- Prepare check requests for court, attorney, recovery, and other approved claim-related expenses.
- Assist with forecasting upcoming claim payments and maintaining accurate payment information.
- Escalate complex, high dollar, disputed, or unusual claims to a senior claims professional or management.
- Develop working knowledge of state-specific bond forfeiture requirements and company claims procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to learn SAGE 100 and SAP Crystal Reports.
- Ability to research information using internal systems and available public records.
- 0–2 years of experience in claims, insurance, financial services, legal support, court administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in customer service, administrative, legal, insurance, or financial environment may be considered.
Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to learn and apply state-specific regulations, statutes, and company procedures.
