Patient Insurance Coordinator

• Contact and interview patients and/or families to screen the appropriateness of filing applications for medical coverage
• Assist patients with obtaining required verifications and documentation, with patient authorizations, to determine eligibility
• Monitor and assist with the application process, including attending interviews when necessary to maintain processing deadlines
• Collaborate interdepartmentally to gather and disseminate information pertinent to patients' insurance coverage
• Document insurance and financial clearance information in electronic medical record systems
• Update demographic, insurance, funding, and medical information in information systems as needed
• Respond to payer requests for information
• Assist patients with enrolling in and maintaining active insurance coverage
• Remain current on health insurance options for Indiana residents

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field, preferred
• Minimum 2 years related experience
• Indiana Insurance Navigator's License preferred, but not required
• Valid driver's license and automobile insurance is required

Demonstrates expertise in patient eligibility determination and insurance application processes, with strong collaboration skills to work interdepartmentally and maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records.
