Position Summary

The Staff Attorney supports the ACLU of Indiana’s litigation work by developing and litigating cases under supervision. The role provides structured mentorship, increasing responsibility, and meaningful courtroom experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review requests for legal assistance and conduct initial assessments.
  • Develop litigation under supervision, including research, drafting, discovery, and advocacy.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and litigation support staff.
  • Participate in public education and outreach related to litigation.

Requirements
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Indiana Bar or the ability to obtain admission promptly.
  • 1–4 years of legal practice.
  • Strong research and writing skills; eagerness to build oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and seek guidance appropriately.
  • Strong desire to grow as a litigator.
  • Openness to feedback and coaching.
