Central Rent‑A‑Crane is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager with experience in the construction or heavy industry environment. The emphasis will be in the area of commercial construction, petrochemical, steel, wind farm, and heavy industry environments. The successful candidate must be able to work independently on multiple matters in a fast‑paced environment. This is a full‑time, exempt position with a comprehensive benefits package working out of either the Fairland or Fort Wayne office.
EssentialFunctions
- Be familiar with and maintain knowledge of relevant crane and rigging codes, standards, and regulations.
- Identify and ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety standards for employees at branch locations and large heavy‑industry work sites.
- Follow Corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at Company facilities and work sites.
- Conduct regular and random safety inspections of work sites and facilities to assess operations, compliance, and to detect existing or potential accident, fire, or health hazards. Recommend corrective or preventative actions and prepare evaluation reports for Corporate office review.
- Review injury/accident reports for causal factors and identify follow‑up or corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Must be able to develop site‑specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Conduct regular safety meetings with management and employees.
- Implement established EHS policies, procedures, and written communications.
- Understand DOT compliance and maintain driver files.
- Prepare and disseminate information on safety issues on a regular and timely basis.
- Be responsible for personal and professional development; maintain development through training, seminars, etc. that enhance knowledge of environmental, health, and safety, crane and lifting operations, rigging, forklift, and mobile elevating work platform (MEWP).
- Maintain open line of communication with corporate office through regular verbal and written communication.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or 2 years of related experience as a Safety Manager in the construction or heavy industry environment, i.e. petrochemical, steel, etc.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written format, i.e. report writing, training, etc.
- Experience in accident investigation.
- Computer literate, proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
