Description

Field Project Manager oversees on‑site project execution from delivery through commissioning of Cummins branded generator equipment being installed at large‑scale data center sites. Serving as the primary point of contact during installation and startup, this role coordinates on‑site deliveries, supervises enclosure and Cummins technicians, and leads commissioning activities.

Through this fellowship, you will have the opportunity to shadow an experienced Project Manager and gradually take co‑ownership of responsibilities as you gain confidence in the role for the duration of the program. Successful completion of the program can lead to a full‑time opportunity with Cummins as Field Project Manager.

Job Summary

Must be a current participant of the Hiring our Heroes Skill Bridge Fellowship Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage labor reporting, commissioning budgets, invoicing, warranty and vendor issues, vendor management, and on‑site safety.
  • Represent the team in client meetings and weekly update calls, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Conduct research and analysis; provide input into the design and development of project plans and timelines.
  • Manage project risk, use quality tools to identify risk areas, and collaborate with the team and external stakeholders to find solutions.
  • Document and share team learnings, maintain project notes, databases, and other records, and monitor metrics.
  • Communicate status to the Project Sponsor and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and assign appropriate resources, guide and coach team members, and provide developmental feedback.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, University, or equivalent certification in Project Management (or equivalent experience). This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Intermediate level of relevant work experience, including team leadership experience, required.

  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Previous experience serving as a project manager.
  • Project resource management capabilities.
