Area Manager - Maintenance (Fashion, Import, Print Solutions, Regional, Returns, Sam's, )

A dynamic opportunity for an experienced maintenance leader to drive quality, safety, productivity and financial performance for a multi‑functional warehouse. The role oversees maintenance operations, staff, budgets, and compliance with regulatory standards while fostering a high‑performing, inclusive team culture.

Position Summary

The Area Manager will lead the maintenance department across one or more facilities, ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance, and cost control while aligning with business goals and operational priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with customers, suppliers, and associates both verbally and in writing.
  • Implement the business plan for the area of responsibility, setting goals, managing staffing, scheduling, assignments, and workloads to meet facility targets for production quality and safety.
  • Monitor and manage productivity by preparing, reviewing, and analyzing business reports.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards by ensuring associates are trained on logistics, company policies, standards, and procedures; monitor compliance; distribute and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Identify associate, customer, and supplier concerns, listen and consult as needed, determine corrective actions, and make recommendations to resolve issues.
  • Supervise, develop, and coach associates and leaders—assign duties, coordinate workloads, monitor performance, provide feedback, and identify training and development needs; participate in hiring, promotion, and evaluation.
  • Manage maintenance department daily operations—monitor and ensure performance related to warehouse equipment, including material handling, pneumatic, electrical, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration, and general building repairs; enforce compliance with state and federal regulations (OSHA, Hazardous Waste, NFPA, Storm Water, DOT).
  • Manage financial aspects—monitor and track expenses and capital expenditures versus budget; track asset utilization and prepare, review, and analyze business reports.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or Technical School Certification in an industrial‑related field
    ** and
    * * 1 year of relevant maintenance supervisory experience
    ** OR
    * * Bachelor's Degree in a business/industrial or related field
    ** or
    * * 1 year supervisory experience in a maintenance environment with hiring and promotion responsibilities
    ** or
    * * 2 years of Walmart logistics maintenance experience (including 6 months leading a work or project team)
    ** or
    * * 2 years supervisory experience in an industrial environment with hiring and promotion responsibilities and 1 year maintenance experience.
  • Must attend and successfully complete all required job trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy trainings, Open Door trainings).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Compliance, general maintenance, Microsoft Office, refrigeration equipment (supermarkets), supervising associates, warehouse management systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Logistics.
