Join the Ivy Tech Madison team as a Site Manager and lead correctional education programs that transform lives through education! This leadership role oversees daily operations, supports faculty and staff, and partners with correctional facility leadership to deliver high-quality educational opportunities for incarcerated students
Position Summary:
The Site Manager serves as the on-site leader responsible for the successful delivery of Ivy Tech Community College’s Correctional Education programming at an assigned Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) facility. This role bridges statewide strategy with on-the-ground execution, ensuring high-quality instruction, compliance, data integrity, and strong collaboration with IDOC partners. The Site Manager leads instructional and support staff, cultivates a positive professional culture, and ensures safe, compliant, and effective educational operations within the correctional environment.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Culture Serve as the on-site leader for Ivy Tech correctional education programs at the assigned facility.
Model professionalism and cultivate a positive, solution-oriented, cohesive culture aligned with outward-mindset practices.
Build and maintain professional relationships with site staff, students, and facility leadership (Warden, Deputy Wardens, custody staff).Facilitate staff meetings, coaching sessions, team development activities, and participate in department head meetings.
Enforce Ivy Tech and IDOC policies consistently and fairly.
2. Staff Supervision & Development Assist HR in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and recommending staff.
Support onboarding plans and connect staff to statewide training.
Supervise all education staff assigned to the site, including ABE teachers, vocational instructors, special education staff, and administrative support.
Conduct staff observations, coaching, and continuous quality improvement processes (monthly CQIs, classroom walk-throughs and observations, and evaluations).Ensure new employees are effectively onboarded and connected to statewide orientation and training.
Clarify expectations and communicate program goals with instructional and support teams.
Manage personnel processes: time off, performance evaluations, goal setting, professional development plans, disciplinary actions, interviews, and terminations.
Address performance concerns proactively, escalating to regional/state leadership and/or HR when necessary.
Troubleshoot instructional and personnel challenges in a timely manner.
3. Program & Instructional Oversight Ensure performance targets are met, including enrollments, completions, MSGs (Table 4/4B), HSE, Literacy, and CTE metrics.
Monitor instructional delivery, classroom scheduling, teacher coverage, and student engagement.
Support best practices in teaching and learning, including appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities.
Oversee CTE program compliance: credential requirements, lab safety, tool control, equipment maintenance.
Ensure GED/TABE testing procedures are followed and documented.
Ensure compliance with Special Education reporting, testing, and case conference processes.
4. Data & Reporting Ensure accurate tracking of student enrollments, attendance, completions, MSGs, and other performance measures.
Submit required statewide deliverables on time, including quarterly reports, CQI forms, and weekly/site-specific reports.
Partner with data specialists to maintain up-to-date and accurate data in InTERS/Banner.
Identify gaps in performance and collaborate with staff to develop corrective action plans.
Oversee data accuracy in Delta, including completion paperwork.
Provide required documentation and compliance support for ACA audits.
Monitor testing outcomes to ensure instructional focus and intervention.
5. Safety & Security Partner with custody staff to ensure secure and safe environments across all education spaces.
Enforce safety policies: locked doors, line-movement procedures, tool control, and other security expectations.
Identify, monitor, and report safety risks to facility leadership and state team.
Participate in required IDOC safety/security training.
