Vice President/Associate Vice President Regional Research Operations

Lead expansion across all R&D sites, overseeing current operations and future acquisitions. Build a sustainable, technically capable organization that maintains compliance with regulatory, legal, and right-to-operate requirements through strong processes.

Responsibilities

Strengthen the organization through recruiting, training, coaching, and development. Structure teams for effective, efficient execution. Drive the right behaviors through clear communication and respect for people. Simplify and prioritize work so decisions get made faster. Partner with west coast site leadership to align roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities, and to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Provide Operational, Strategic Oversight and Execution in the following systems/programs across sites:

  • Operational support for R&D facilities including Gateway Labs.
  • Supply Chain and Shipping Office
  • Third Party Risk Assessment
  • Protect Lilly
  • Research Data Systems

Partner with finance, procurement, and business stakeholders to implement new business and operational programs. Work with the integration team to plan and facilitate onboarding of newly acquired entities. Manage upward and communicate cross-functionally, anticipating and resolving issues related to the team, equipment assets, or capital project portfolio. Keep key team and asset information and decisions well documented, and ensure project management and finance processes and systems stay current.

Serve as the point of contact for LRL scientific staff and leadership on site operations, capital, asset, third-party risk, and supply chain programs.

Other Responsibilities
  • Form partnerships and relationships with representatives outside of responsibilities to identify opportunities for integration or effective/efficient use of resources or processes (e.g. LRL scientific functions, Facilities Management, Research IDS, LRL finance, capital asset accounting, LRL supply chain management).
  • Collaborate with LRL HSE, as well as Local Safety & Functional Teams to evaluate, enhance, & ensure a safe work environment for our employees.
  • Look for synergistic and sustained approaches in utilizing facilities & technologies across modalities & functions.
  • Maintain compliance, including direct reports, with corporate and regulated policies, SOPs, Red Book, etc.
  • Lead any capability or project initiatives at the site or enterprise level, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or higher in a scientific or pharmaceutical development-related field 15+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience with regulated processes and activities
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in project management and strategic planning

  • Experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in a research environment.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated knowledge and experience with tools and software.
  • Demonstrated success in organizational and people management.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at the senior management level and achieve business results.
  • Strong communications skills.
