Department ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT (IN-ENRL-IUINA)

Department Information Optimizing our enrollment mix is crucial to the long‑term viability of IU Indianapolis. There are several factors that influence a student's college choice, persistence, graduation and success. The Division of Enrollment Management is comprised of over 100 full‑time staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, Office for Veterans and Military personnel, P12, as well as other areas supporting student enrollment.

The Division also oversees and provides insight for its enrollment operations for the Fort Wayne and Columbus campuses.

Job Summary

All listed job responsibilities below are carried out in accordance with current state and federal student financial aid regulations as determined by the US Dept. of Education and Indiana state aid policies and managed through the IU Indianapolis Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. This position has a great deal of autonomy and must use independent judgement to interpret policies and procedures that follow federal and state regulatory requirements.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Uses discretion to implement policies and procedures.
  • Exercises financial aid professional judgement on a case-by-case basis.
  • Interprets, implements, and applies federal, state, and university regulations in the management of various student success initiatives.
  • Develops, implements, and manages recruitment and retention initiatives related to financial aid and scholarship programs.
  • Provides oversight and supervision of graduate and professional school liaisons for School of Dentistry, Medicine, Law, and Nursing/Social Work.
  • Accountable in efforts to meet institutional enrollment management mission and goals.
  • Ensures financial aid compliance to all governing authorities related to all financial aid and scholarship programs and maintain awarding integrity.
  • Serves as primary financial aid administrative expert for graduate and professional programs within the IU Indianapolis Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
  • Position has the authority to waive and/or deviate from established policies and procedures without prior approval.
  • Evaluates possible courses of action relative to the facts presented in a given situation, assesses possible outcomes, and takes action based on these conclusions.
  • Provides guidance and direction to other staff and subordinates on possible courses of action.
  • Assesses risks and makes recommendations to senior management on most viable outcomes.
  • Interprets, implements, and applies federal, state, and university regulations in the development and implementation of recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Write policies and procedures based on understanding of various regulations.
  • Develops methods to monitor and measure the effectiveness of policy and procedure implementation for area.
  • Evaluates systems and processes and apply independent judgement and authority in the management of millions of dollars of federal, state, and institutional aid dollars.
  • Assists in making budgetary recommendations for awarding HRSA loans for graduate/professional population.
  • Accountable in efforts to meet institutional enrollment management mission and goals.
  • Report on area activities on an ongoing basis and developways to assess how area meets strategic goals and objectives in a quality improvement environment.
  • Provides management reports and summaries for senior administrators.
  • Serves on advisory committees and taskforce related to financial aid and scholarships.
  • Maintains hiring and supervisory authority for graduate and professional school liaison positions and support staff positions.
  • Assist office hiring efforts by serving on committees and sharing human resources expertise.
  • Including but not limited to performance management, promotion and dismissal.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development and continuing education activities offered by federal and state financial aid authorities as well as professional organizations to ensure financial aid compliance and awarding integrity.
General Responsibilities
  • Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define financial aid/scholarships methodologies and standards; provides direction and guidance on high priority financial aid/scholarships projects/initiatives.
  • Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multi-phase financial aid/scholarships initiatives.
  • Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
