We are seeking a skilled Plastic Manufacturing Engineer with hands-on experience in injection molding to support and improve our manufacturing operations. This role focuses on identifying opportunities for cost reduction, process optimization, and overall system efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate is analytical, process-driven, and comfortable working directly on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze existing injection molding processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste elimination, and efficiency improvements
- Optimize machine parameters, tooling, and cycle times to improve productivity and part quality
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
- Troubleshoot molding defects, process variability, and equipment issues
- Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and tooling teams to implement process improvements
- Support new product introductions, including process development, mold trials, and validation
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process documentation
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as scrap rate, cycle time, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Evaluate equipment, materials, and vendors to improve performance and reduce costs
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience working with injection molding machines in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of plastic materials, molding processes, and tooling
- Experience with process optimization and cost-reduction initiatives
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills
