Essential Duties
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on all Feed Mill production equipment, NQL equipment, and Feed Mill office facilities.
- Schedule, document, and track preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, boiler, and control systems.
- Monitor and support feed quality parameters and assist with process and equipment improvement initiatives.
- Operate and troubleshoot manufacturing and batching equipment as required.
- Learn and maintain a working understanding of Feed Mill production flow, systems, and operating procedures.
- Monitor and interpret electronic control panels and automation systems.
- Coordinate and oversee specialized maintenance work performed by external contractors.
- Assist with maintenance expense tracking and capital planning initiatives.
- Order replacement parts and maintain appropriate spare parts inventory levels.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation, reports, and records are completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit monthly maintenance and feed quality reports to the Corporate Feed Mill Operations Manager.
- Support production operations and ingredient inventory activities as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety standards, biosecurity requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Extensive working knowledge of Feed Mill production equipment and operations.
- Technical knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controllers, boilers, pumps, and plumbing.
- Familiarity with feed ingredients, grains, and feed manufacturing processes preferred.
- Working knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Operating Work Analyses (OWAs), USDA guidelines, HACCP, GMPs, and quality standards.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and feed mill batching/operating systems.
- Knowledge of biosecurity standards and animal wellbeing guidelines.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of feed mill machinery, processes, and systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to maintenance and feed quality.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively with production staff, management, vendors, and other departments.
- Welding and metal fabrication skills are preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic math and measurements.
- Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, and operate pallet jacks handling loads up to 2,000 pounds.
- Education and experience typically acquired through completion of a technical college program specializing in feed manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer proficiency with spreadsheets and databases is preferred.
- Work environment includes standing, walking, lifting, bending, and climbing.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and industrial equipment.
- Position may require after-hours, weekend work, and periodic travel.
