Job Summary:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring, testing, and documenting the quality and performance of materials used in concrete production. This role ensures that all materials and mixes comply with project specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements. The ideal candidate is physically capable, dependable, and willing to work in both laboratory and field environments, including travel to multiple plants and job sites using company vehicles.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Arrive at assigned plant or job site prior to the first concrete delivery.Perform initial and continuous testing of aggregates and concrete, including gradation, moisture, slump, air content, and temperature.
Communicate test results to plant operations and/or QC staff and make adjustments as needed.
Create, transport, and log concrete compressive cylinders for compliance monitoring
Compare test values to design specifications and ensure compliance.
Observe and document field test data and jobsite activities; communicate findings with necessary individuals and agencies.
Adjust to changing schedules and work demands with short notice.
Work Saturdays, nights, and overtime as required.
Understand the components of concrete and how they interact.
Troubleshoot product issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Follow proper and certified testing procedures for concrete materials.
Qualifications:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
High school diploma required; some college or trade school preferred.
One year of ready‑mix or construction industry experience preferred, but not required.
ACI Level 1 certification preferred.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Demands :
Regular use of hands to operate tools, equipment, and testing instruments; ability to perform repetitive motions.Frequent walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and driving.
Must have adequate close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Ability to hear phone conversations, normal in‑person communication, and warning signals around moving equipment.
Frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
Ability to push a wheelbarrow containing approximately 3 cu. ft. of concrete.
