Lab Technician - 2nd Shift (12 PM-8 PM)

What You'll Do
As a Lab Technician, you'll support the Technical/Laboratory Manager and play a key role in both quality control and color product development. Your daily work will include:
Quality & Testing
* Maintain a compliant laboratory quality system
* Conduct color evaluations (instrumental & visual)
* Perform physical tests such as bulk density, moisture, specific gravity, melt flow rate, and ash content
* Certify finished products and maintain QA documentation
* Evaluate raw materials and alternative materials for quality compliance
* Manage non‑conforming products
* Operate weatherometers and other specialty testing equipment
Color Development
* Formulate color matches (supervised or independent based on experience)
* Complete documentation for color matches and create product codes
* Enter formulas into manufacturing systems
* Perform liquid color matching and related tests (grind gauge, viscometer, mixer/spatula tests, weight per gallon)
Laboratory Equipment Operation
You'll gain hands-on experience with:
* Convection drying ovens
* Carver Press
* Arburg molding machines
* Two‑roll mill
* Spectrophotometers
* Moisture analyzers
* Torque rheometers / Lab extruders
* Laboratory scales
Collaboration & Leadership
* Coordinate with production and lab teams
* Support shift personnel
* Review formulas for new and incoming orders
* Prepare Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
What You Need
Minimum Requirements
* High School Diploma
* 1+ year of GMP lab experience (required if not holding a 4‑year science degree)
* Ability to work the 12 PM-8 PM 2nd‑shift schedule
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Polymer Science, or other life sciences
* Experience with QC testing or color evaluation
* Knowledge of GMP standards
* wet chemistry or quality assurance
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kendallville, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.35 - $24.50/hr.
