Shift Rotation:
Every 4 months after training
Training: 1st or 3rd shift
Shifts:
1st: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
2nd: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
3rd: 11:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Weekends:
Work 2 out of every 3 Saturdays (Sundays possible)

Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will support paint operations at Fort Wayne Assembly Plant, ensuring production equipment—primarily Fanuc robotics—runs safely, efficiently, and at required quality standards. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and ideal for early-career engineers or manufacturing professionals looking to gain deep exposure to high-volume automotive production.
You’ll oversee paint process equipment, support production teams, coordinate maintenance, and ensure daily production goals and quality checks are met across rotating shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure paint process equipment and robotics operate efficiently and safely
- Oversee Fanuc robotic systems (operation and maintenance coordination—not programming)
- Monitor production performance and escalate equipment issues to maintenance
- Lead and support hourly production employees during assigned shifts
- Write daily shift reports summarizing production results, issues, and corrective actions
- Conduct quality checks and verify adherence to manufacturing and safety standards
- Review timecards and ensure accurate payroll submission for team members
- Analyze production data, time studies, and workflow to improve efficiency
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and process documentation
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to resolve issues
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the paint shop
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- OR High School Diploma with 3+ years of relevant manufacturing experience
- 0–3 years of manufacturing or industrial experience
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production flow
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Comfortable working rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Exposure to robotics and automation (Fanuc experience is a plus)
- Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments
- Leadership or supervisory experience on a production floor
- Familiarity with paint operations, PTED, or body/assembly processes
- Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment (UAW experience not required)
