Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Description
Superior Metal Technologies is a full‑service aluminum metal finishing company, specializing in high‑performance architectural coatings, including polyvinylidene fluoride PVDF (Kynar 500), eco‑friendly acid etch anodize and caustic etch anodize. We are seeking a dedicated and self‑motivated Inventory Control Tech to join our dynamic team. The role will manage material flow within the facility, maintain inventory accuracy, and uphold safety and organization standards.
Key Responsibilities- Material Handling:
Safely and efficiently transport materials within the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment; load and unload materials from trucks and containers; check in and verify trim shipments and place them into warehouse locations; communicate with the Paint & Inventory Manager for daily orders; read and understand blue travelers and die drawings; pull extrusion orders and inform pretreatment of availability;
notify discrepancies such as damage or shortages. - Inventory Control:
Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular cycle counts; update inventory management systems with receipts, usages, and stock adjustments; identify and resolve discrepancies; keep the warehouse/back patio organized and clean; unload/load trucks with a crane; complete receipt documentation and discrepancy paperwork. - Self‑Motivation & Initiative:
Proactively seek improvements in material handling processes and inventory practices; maintain a clean and organized work environment; demonstrate a strong work ethic and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. - Collaboration & Communication:
Coordinate with the production team to align material needs; communicate inventory status and shortages to supervisors and team members; participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to optimize inventory control and material handling.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus. Proven experience as a material handler or in a similar role, preferably within metal fabrication or manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices.
- Proficient in using material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) and basic computer skills, such as inventory management software.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physical tasks repeatedly throughout the day.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong problem‑solving abilities with a self‑motivated mindset.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to position oneself for moving metal objects during treatment or packing.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment; ability to detect slight differences in finishes.
- Work in environments that may be hot or cold; exposure to loud sounds, dust, fumes, and solvents.
