Job Overview

Aid in the design, build and maintenance of molds and fixtures used in plastic injection molding and assembly.

Responsibilities
  • Readily make and/or correct 3D prints utilizing ProE technology.
  • Convert ProE drawings into CAM-based computer files for use with CNC machines and complete the production/fabrication of tools.
  • Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate or repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or machinists’ hand tools, applying knowledge of tool design, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout, machining and assembly procedures.
  • Study specifications such as prints, sketches, or tool description and plan the sequence of operations.
  • Measure, mark and scribe metal stock to lay out work pieces for machining.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, milling machine and grinder to machine parts to specifications, and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Examine standard tools and modify tools as required.
  • Lay out, machine, fit, assemble and finish metal parts to make and repair dies for plastic injection molds, analyzing specifications and applying knowledge of die and mold design and construction.
  • Set up and operate machines to machine outer dimensions and contoured cavity of die mold according to specifications provided.
  • Perform other assignments as directed by immediate supervisor or their designee.
Education and Experience

Technical school degree or 5 years related experience (required).

5 years related manufacturing experience, plastic injection molding experience, and CAD/CAM software experience.

Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English (required).
  • Ability to review and interpret plastic injection mold tooling prints.
  • Computer literate. Additional on-the-job training provided.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
Physical and

Work Environment Requirements
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Work Conditions
  • Temperature controlled facility with office and light manufacturing environment; non-smoking; safety hazards minimal with daily use of some chemicals; company provided smock and hairnet mandatory in all controlled production areas.
