Quality Assurance Technician
Full Time Technicians Austin, IN, US
Salary Range: $20.00 To $20.75 Hourly
Opportunity: Morgan Foods, located in Austin, IN, is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Technician. Our QA Technicians support production, food safety, and sanitation to ensure that our product meets the highest quality standards.
This role is full-time, 3rd shift (M-F, 10pm-6:30a), onsite. It may require occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Be a safety champion by following all safety procedures, identifying potential hazards, and supporting a safety-first environment.
- Support production floor quality operations by performing analytical and product attribute testing and accurately recording results.
- Conduct SSOP and GMP pre-operational inspections to ensure sanitation, quality, and food safety requirements are met.
- Inspect ingredient storage areas to ensure compliance with company quality, sanitation, and food safety standards.
- Verify incoming ingredients meet required specifications and accurately record results.
- Collect product samples for incubation testing and maintain accurate records.
- Inspect label operations to ensure label accuracy, product identification, and quality compliance.
- Identify, isolate, and document non-conforming raw ingredients and products according to company standards.
- Document and maintain quality holds.
- Work with production employees, supervisors, maintenance, R&D teams, and USDA inspectors to maintain product quality, food safety, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely quality documentation, logs, and records.
Ability to frequently walk and stand throughout the shift. Ability to moderately bend, reach, climb stairs and ladders, and use hands/fingers/wrists to complete inspections, testing, documentation, and computer entries. Ability to occasionally lift more than 25 lbs. Moderate computer and documentation use is required.
Environmental RequirementsManufacturing Plant – primary work environment, not climate-controlled with variable temperatures. Office/Lab Area – secondary work environment, may be climate controlled.
Communication RequirementsAbility to read, understand, and follow work instructions, quality standards, safety rules, GMPs, SSOPs, and documentation requirements. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, QA personnel, maintenance, production employees, and USDA inspectors to support safe, efficient, and compliant operations. Ability to complete required written and computerized documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

Scheduling & AvailabilityWork assigned shift (M-F, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.) with overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed. Flexibility required to support production demands, quality needs, training, and business operations.
Education/Training/Skills/Experience/Personal Attributes- High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred in quality assurance, food technology, or related. A college degree may be substituted by a high school diploma or equivalent with additional food production experience.
- Basic laboratory, science, food safety, or quality assurance knowledge preferred.
- Manufacturing experience in food manufacturing strongly preferred.
- SAP or other ERP system experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Ability to work independently while contributing and collaborating within a larger team environment.
- Organized, dependable, and able to meet deadlines in an environment with changing priorities.
- Excellent attendance record required.
$20.00/hr, starting with incremental increases every six months.
