Brake Press Operator
Onyett is seeking an experienced Brake Press Operator responsible for forming various types of steel for bucket and blade liners, forming metal into different degrees, and forming channels. These responsibilities include shaping metal, maintaining press brake, reading blueprints, completing inspections, packaging, lifting, and moving parts & inventory, using a forklift, and following safety regulations.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities- Select appropriate tooling and dies based on material thickness and type.
- Set up tooling, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measure, mark, and scribble dimensions and reference points on material or work‑piece as guides for subsequent forming as necessary.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate forming factors.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance forming and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
- Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
- Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
- Ensure that safe work practices are followed and adhered to.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Strong work tenure: 3+ years of experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and execute work.
- Ability to perform all job duties.
- Read tape measurements.
- Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
- Compare and detect differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
- Detail- and deadline‑oriented multitasker.
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.
