Job Description:
Wastequip's Galbreath division has a great opportunity for a Welder Specialist in our Winamac, IN location.
Pay rate: $27.02
Responsibilities- Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamp parts together along layout marks.
- Lay out, position, and tack weld work pieces.
- Weld along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
- Connect regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch.
- Turn regulator valves to activate flow of gases, light torch, and adjust gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame.
- Hold and guide torch at proper angle to cut metal.
- Examine welds for bead size and other specifications.
- Scarfs or grooves welds and parts.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform hoist installation.
- MIG weld along vertical and horizontal weld lines and examine welds for bead size and other specifications, including torch set‑up and use.
- Operate drill press, band saw, parts washer, and overhead hoist.
- Install basic electric and hydraulics.
- Be able to cross‑train and work in other departments if needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to three months of related experience and/or training preferred.
- Six months or more of welding experience required.
- Electrical and hydraulic knowledge preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Knowledge of basic math, tape‑measure reading, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
