Position Brand Description
The Central Maintenance Shop provides sheet metal, plastic, welding, design, fabrication, and maintenance support for M&Q customers, including development research, manufacturing, utilities and administrative for all buildings.
This position is responsible for providing welding maintenance, repair, design and fabrication services for customer-owned and facilities support equipment.
Key Objectives/Deliverables- Weld and repair pressure vessel, utilizing a minimum of 8 GMAW semi‑auto, SMAW manual, GTAW manual, and GTAW automatic weld processes to maintain tank integrity and meet ASME codes.
- Weld and repair pipe and fittings required by pipe fitters and RAC mechanics, utilizing a minimum of 8 MIG, TIG, Stick, and Oxygen/Acetylene processes to maintain validation and integrity of water, steam, and air systems; support coil replacement for heating and cooling systems.
- Weld and repair production, research equipment and components, including non‑pressurized vessels and pots requiring GMP/GLP validation using MIG, TIG, Stick and Oxygen/Acetylene processes.
- Use specialized techniques to provide welding support for sheet metal fabrication and machining; assist other crafts and shops with basic sheet metal fabrication, such as boxes, frames, cages, racks, and panels.
- Apply electro‑polishing and mechanical polishing techniques to stainless steel piping, fittings, tubing, and tanks.
- Support and participate in root cause analysis and proactive asset management (PAM) and conduct of maintenance processes.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and improving the safety culture.
- Work with engineers, production personnel, and customers to overcome assembly hurdles.
- Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, uniformity, and quality.
- Make decisions under pressure and deliver assignments on schedule at best value.
- Think creatively and work well independently without much guidance.
- Use of data systems including Maximo, Workday and Lilly Now for work order time entry, safety manuals, MSDS sheets, training enrollment, and benefits information.
- Participate in the performance management process with immediate supervisor.
- Maintain a variety of welding certifications and assist others in achieving certifications.
- Minimum of 4 years of welding trade experience.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Full Time / Day Shift; some overtime required. Monday through Friday.
- Flex time may be available; this position requires response to off‑hour emergencies and overtime.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis; no visa sponsorship for U.S. employment status (including F‑1 CPT, F‑1 OPT, etc.).
Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $21.27 - $41.25 per hour.
