CNC Manufacturing Engineer – Precision Machining
Indianapolis, IN | $95,000–$110,000 base
Schedule: 100% On-Site | Monday–Friday

About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a growing precision manufacturing company in Indianapolis, IN that is investing heavily in its machining operation and recently added new CNC equipment to support continued growth. They’re looking for a hands‑on CNC Manufacturing Engineer who can step onto the shop floor, own the process, and help get new parts, programs, tooling, and fixtures running the right way. This is not a desk‑only engineering role.

This is built for someone who likes being close to the machines, solving real production problems, improving cycle times, supporting machinists, and making the floor more efficient. The ideal candidate is someone who has strong CNC programming experience, understands tooling and fixturing, and can work independently without needing constant direction. If you enjoy taking ownership, improving processes, and being the technical go‑to person on the floor, this is a strong opportunity.

What

You’ll Be Doing
  • Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs from prints, models, and production needs.
  • Support Mazak, Haas, Mazatrol, G-code, mills, and lathes in a precision machining environment.
  • Help bring new CNC equipment online and transition parts into production.
  • Improve machining processes to reduce cycle times, improve quality, and increase overall efficiency.
  • Identify, source, and implement the right tooling, work holding, and fixtures for new and existing parts.
  • Work directly with tooling vendors, fixture suppliers, machinists, engineering, and operations.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to setups, tooling, surface finish, tolerances, machine performance, and repeatability.
  • Clean up legacy programs and improve existing machining processes.
  • Support machinists on the floor with programming, setup, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
  • Take ownership of projects and move them forward without waiting to be micromanaged.
What They’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of hands‑on manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong CNC programming background with Fusion 360, Mastercam, Solid Works CAM, or similar CAM software.
  • Practical experience with Mazak, Haas, Mazatrol, G-code, mills, and lathes
    .
  • Strong understanding of tooling, fixturing, work holding, feeds, speeds, tolerances, and production troubleshooting
    .
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings, prints, and 3D models
    .
  • Experience working directly with machinists and production teams on the shop floor.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to diagnose issues quickly.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects.
  • Degree is a plus, but hands‑on CNC manufacturing experience matters most
    .
Why You’ll Want This Role
  • Strong compensation: $95,000–$110,000 base.
  • New equipment: Opportunity to help shape how new CNC machines are set up, programmed, and used.
  • Real ownership: You’ll have direct impact on production, tooling, programming, and process improvement.
  • Hands‑on environment: Ideal for someone who wants to be on the floor solving problems, not buried in meetings.
  • Growth opportunity: The company is expanding its machining capabilities and needs someone who can help build stronger processes as they scale.
  • High‑impact role: Your work will directly affect quality, efficiency, cycle times, and production output.
