Production Manager
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day‑to‑day implementation of manufacturing activities in one or more production areas, ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are met while managing a budget. This position reports to the Value Stream Manager and is located in Indianapolis, IN.
Responsibilities- Lead and build a strong team, making hiring and firing decisions. Train associates on standard manufacturing processes and ensure goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) are met while promoting continuous improvement.
- Prioritize production schedules based on customer needs, equipment performance, staff efficiency, material availability, and business goals. Coordinate with different teams to ensure on‑time product delivery.
- Identify areas that need improvement and assess associate performance, provide feedback, and conduct annual performance reviews and the compensation process in line with company policies.
- Manage the area’s budget, including labor, production, maintenance, supplies, tooling, and fixtures. Suggest budget changes for capital expenses and labor costs, develop work schedules, and supervise skilled and semi‑skilled staff.
- Minimum education and experience:
High school degree with 8+ years’ experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience. - Work well in fast‑paced environments and display a strong sense of urgency while adapting to changing responsibilities.
- Open to working any assigned shift.
- Self‑motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to set performance expectations and address sensitive issues.
- Problem‑solving skills to improve organizational performance and proficiencies in Microsoft programs such as Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Experience leading continuous improvement, Six Sigma efforts, and Kaizen project teams.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational agility.
