JOB SUMMARY

The Production Department Machine Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Machine Department, overseeing manual, CNC, and grinding processes. The role leads a team to meet customer goals, plans production output, staffing, equipment, technology, quality, and training, and motivates the department to contribute to company demands. The position ensures scheduled work is executed safely and systematically so that qualified technicians can perform assigned tasks, monitoring completion and maintaining quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow established safety protocols to ensure compliance with company safety policies.
  • Provide direct managerial oversight of the department and personnel, including shift supervisors.
  • Coordinate, plan, and direct all activities in the machine department (CNC, manual, /OD grind, tooling) to repair turbine engine components.
  • Establish daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communicate them to the team.
  • Oversee safety and well‑being of the team per company standards.
  • Monitor assigned work and review completed jobs to ensure adherence to scope and expectations.
  • Use computer software for job assignment, verification, tracking, and monitoring metrics.
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel team members to achieve desired results.
  • Manage personnel work hours, scheduled time off, shift schedules, and overtime to meet customer requirements.
  • Conduct performance reviews, employee development, accountability, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with trainers and department managers to monitor, guide, and improve employee development and processes.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled department meetings, including monthly and smaller group meetings as needed.
  • Detect efficiency issues and suggest improvement methods.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Minimum of five years’ experience as a supervisor or manager in a manufacturing environment or similar.
    • Minimum of five years’ experience interpreting and following verbal and written instructions, including shop drawings and work scope, with basic shop math skills.
    • High School graduate; advanced educational accreditation preferred.
    • Solid foundation in computers and standard software programs.
    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
    • Ability to multi‑task while adhering to high attention to detail standards.
    • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
    • Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing.
    • Overall knowledge of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
    • Experience with measuring gauges such as calipers and micrometers.
    • Experience reading and applying in‑depth work instructions and diagrams.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    • Pre‑employment fitness and vision testing required.
    • Follow general shop safety procedures; occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
    • Stand and/or sit for portions of shift.
