Job Summary

Lead the weekend shop operations of an assigned team, driving safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity metrics. Drive implementation of Flight Deck strategies in plant and cells, and nurture a culture of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Manage an operation, business unit, or part of a production facility to achieve defined targets in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity.
  • Ensure continuous business improvement according to benchmarks and standards.
  • Provide leadership for a salaried shop team and indirect leadership for supporting staff.
  • Influence strategy development for the area of responsibility, including resource control and policy formulation.
  • Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services.
  • Stay informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Use high judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks in operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Assess quality of information given, ask pertinent questions to stakeholders, and offer solutions outside of set parameters.
  • Leverage internal and external sources to arrive at decisions; lead functional teams or projects with minimal resources, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Communicate difficult concepts and influence others’ options, guiding them to consider different viewpoints.
  • Provide leadership, communication, and training to salaried and hourly team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field from an accredited college or university, or high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of Manufacturing Engineering Experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering and shop operations leadership experience.
  • Previous business leader experience with a manufacturing workforce.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs and projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Strong background in interpreting engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Process control, improvement & escape prevention, technical requirements & process control, GD&T, blueprint reading, problem solving, and lean manufacturing knowledge.
  • Direct experience with CNC machining and programming, resistance welding, TIG welding, vertical/horizontal lathe, milling, heat treat, brazing, and fabrication.
  • Experience with machining tool and fixture designs and/or improvements.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools.
  • Knowledge of safety agency regulations and ISO/Quality procedures.
