Marine Upholstery Trimmer
Smoker Craft, Inc currently has an opening for a Marine Upholstery Trimmer! This position works from our plant in New Paris, IN.
A Marine Upholstery Trimmer assembles and installs durable fabric/vinyl coverings for boat interiors (seats, cushions, carpets, side panels) using marine-grade materials that resist water and UV, requiring skills in precision cutting, and installing fasteners like snaps/grommets, focusing on high-quality, waterproof finishes for marine environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Fabrication/Assemble:
Create and mend custom marine upholstery, including seats, beds, headliners, and cockpit cushions. - Material Handling:
Work with marine vinyl, fabrics, canvas, and leather, selecting and applying materials resistant to mildew, sun, and saltwater. - Cutting:
Accurately measure, cut and assemble materials using hand tools, often incorporating specialized techniques. - Installation:
Install finished pieces, attaching hardware (snaps, zippers, grommets) and securing components to the boat seats - Frame/Seat Assembly:
May involve repairing or reinforcing underlying furniture frames, foam, or webbing.
Required skills and experience:
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with cutting tools, measuring tools, and light power tools. - Marine Knowledge Helpful:
Understanding of marine terminology (port, starboard, bow, stern) and how materials perform in marine conditions. - Craftsmanship:
Excellent attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and ability to achieve flawless, durable finishes. - Soft Skills:
Problem-solving, time management, and ability to work from designs or customer descriptions.
Schedule:
-8-hour shift
-Day shift 6 am - 2:30 pm
-Monday to Friday
