Weekend Night Shift Tool & Die Apprentice / CNC Machinist
This role offers an opportunity to work as a Tool & Die Apprentice, Journeyman, or CNC Machinist on a weekend night shift, operating a variety of CNC and manual equipment in a high-volume stamping and roll forming environment. You will set up and run CNC Haas mills and lathes, perform precision machining with tight tolerances, and support tooling and die work in a large, well-equipped maintenance and tool & die shop.
This position is ideal for an experienced CNC machinist who wants to expand their skills and work with advanced automated and robotic CNC lines.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and adjust CNC milling machines and lathes, including CNC Haas machining centers, to produce precision components.
- Perform machine setup activities such as change outs, offsets, and tooling adjustments to support efficient production.
- Operate and monitor a range of equipment including surface grinders, milling machines, lathes, drill presses, belt sanders, saws, hoists, clamps, and forklifts when necessary.
- Work with stamping and roll forming dies, including handling and positioning dies weighing up to approximately 8,000 pounds using appropriate lifting equipment.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, including prints with up to 100 dimensions, to ensure parts meet all specified requirements.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify adherence to tight tolerances up to +/-.005.
- Apply knowledge of G and M codes to adjust programs, change tooling, and make offset adjustments as needed to maintain part quality.
- Support the layout, building, servicing, and repair of tools, dies, and fixtures as experience allows.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in the maintenance and tool & die shop.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot machining or tooling issues and continuously improve processes.
- Adapt to working with new CNC automated and robotic lines as they are installed and integrated into production.
Essential Skills
- At least 5+ years of CNC machinist experience working with mills and lathes.
- At least 4+ years of experience in setup, change outs, offsets, and operation of CNC milling machinery.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC Haas machining centers.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed blueprints, including prints with a high number of dimensions.
- Strong ability to use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Experience working with tight tolerances up to +/-.005.
- Solid understanding of G and M codes to change tooling and make offset adjustments.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Comfort working in a stamping and roll forming environment with heavy dies and industrial equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of tool and die maker experience.
- Ability to layout, build, service, and repair tools, dies, and fixtures.
- Journeyman card in machining or tool and die.
- Roll forming experience in a production or maintenance setting.
- Interest in working with new CNC automated and robotic lines and learning advanced machining technologies.

Work Environment
The facility is a very large, bright, clean, and organized manufacturing plant with a substantial maintenance and tool & die shop. The environment includes stamping and roll forming operations, so some areas can be loud, and appropriate hearing protection is used as needed. You will work with heavy dies weighing up to approximately 8,000 pounds, supported by hoists, clamps, and other lifting equipment, as well as a variety of machining and grinding equipment.
The role is on a night weekend shift, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., where you work 36 hours and receive pay for 40 hours, along with an additional shift premium. Uniforms are available if you prefer them, and…
