Service Machinist – Punch Press 2nd Shift
Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 AM (2nd Shift); training on 1st shift.
Pay: $25.94 plus 5% shift differential totaling $27.24. Sign‑on and retention bonuses available.
Work as a machinist in the Punch Press area, performing set-up, operation, maintenance, and quality assurance of punch press and tooling equipment. You will also assist with die design, tooling changes, and troubleshooting of progressive stamping dies.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate various tool room and punch press equipment.
- Plan and arrange machining sequences, confirming tool design intent with measuring instruments to close tolerances.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot forming problems with progressive stamping dies.
- Operate die cart and crane to move and lift die sets.
- Complete tooling changes, sharpening, and repair of dies.
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning on dies.
- Operate PIVs and work with blueprints requiring close tolerances.
- Maintain housekeeping standards.
- Complete grinding, tool design, and hand sharpening (cutting tools).
- Perform minor machine maintenance and upkeep.
- Selectively gather, interpret, and communicate technical information between tool design and manufacturing activities.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years in a tool shop environment.
- Machinist courses or training, preferably with emphasis on stampings; six‑month press die setup or machine repair experience preferred.
- CNC experience with some programming ability.
- Strong mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in diagrammatic form and to write moderate to simple instructions.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and searching job information.
- Work on a production floor that can be slippery with oil; noise levels require hearing protection.
- Operate around powered industrial vehicles and oil/chemicals.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, lift and carry 5–35 pounds; lifting 35+ pounds occasionally with crane use.
- Use hands, arms, fingers, eyes for visual adjustments and corrections.
