- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience in automotive industry (preferred)
- Previous experience in quality department (preferred)
A Quality Technician is responsible for performing metallurgical inspections and tests on in-process production parts to determine if it meets customer specifications. In addition, a quality technician may be expected to perform the tasks of a contract processing technician if the volume of work demands it. This is a fast pace environment with needed meticulous attention to detail.
The hours for this position is Monday-Friday 3:00PM-11:30PM with potential for mandatory overtime throughout the month.
Starting Rate: $17-$18.50/Hour
Key Responsibilities- Monitor induction hardening machine quench concentration
- Section parts and prepare samples for quality inspections using abrasive blaster, cutoff saw, grinders and polishers, and mounting press
- Inspect and test parts at prescribed frequencies using magnetic particle inspection unit, hardness testers, microscopes, and various gauges to verify in-process production meets customer requirements
- Accurately and promptly document the results of inspections and testing
- Look for variations in inspection data and communicate observations to the appropriate personnel
- Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding out-of-spec inspection results
- Monitor general quality activities on the production floor (i.e. lot checklists are filled out, parts are being stacked properly on carts, parts on the carts are heat treated, etc.)
Required
- Ability to speak English fluently
- Basic computer skills
- Some data entry
- Proficient with Microsoft platforms (excel, word, outlook, etc.)
- Ability to understand and follow directions, procedures, and work instructions
- Ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to self‑manage and ask for assistance when necessary
- Ability to lift and manipulate 40 lbs. on an as‑needed basis on and off the shop floor
- Ability to learn how to operate inspection equipment (i.e. cutoff saw, hardness testers, microscopes, etc.)
- Ability to be certified and drive fork trucks as needed
- Willingness to be cross‑trained in other areas and to perform additional duties as required
- Willingness to work overtime as required
- Ability to lift, carry, and push 40 lbs.
- Comfortable working in warehouse environments (may include varying temperatures)
