Manufacturing Engineering Technical Specialist, Gears & Shafts

Up to 20% domestically and internationally
Role:
Lead technical aspects of gear and shaft external supply chain manufacturing for development and production, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery requirements are met. Serve as the authoritative source of manufacturing expertise within the North American external supply chain and collaborate with senior capability leadership.

• Lead a cross-functional manufacturing-focused team to achieve program objectives and deliver products to the customer on time, at the right cost and quality.
• Provide gear and shaft manufacturing input to design engineering to ensure designs are producible and facilitate design-for-manufacture supplier events.
• Lead and represent the manufacturing perspective regarding sourcing strategy.
• Develop and conduct supplier manufacturing readiness and technical risk assessments.
• Support suppliers with quality requirements (fixed process, FAIR, PPAP, SABRe).
• Perform supplier hardware delivery source inspections.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement with emphasis on sharing best practices.

• Basic Requirements: Associate degree with 7+ years of Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, or Purchasing experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years, or Master’s degree with 3+ years, or PhD, or 9+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree. U.S. Citizen required.
• Preferred Requirements: Strong understanding of gear, spline and shaft manufacturing processes, special processes related to gears and splines, and inspection techniques including analytical gear chart interpretation.
• Strong problem-solving skills related to gear and spline manufacturing.
• Familiarity with industry gear and spline specifications (ISO, AGMA, ANSI).
• Understanding of product industrialization, APQP/PPAP, and FAIR.
• Experience operating within a global volume manufacturing environment and with teaching/mentoring gear and shaft manufacturing/inspection operations.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
