CNC Machinist
Essential Functions:
Operate 5-axis CNC machines
Setup and operate a range of automatic or semiautomatic machines
Reports malfunctions in equipment and makes minor adjustments and repairs
Run CNC programs to produce tools & parts to dimensional/tolerance requirements.
Participate in brainstorming / problem solving with Engineering & Production personnel to solve related problems.
Gathers necessary tooling, fixtures, and materials needed for job per traveler requirements
Continuously monitors equipment to ensure safe operation and production of quality parts
Adjusts machines according to dimensional non-conformity
Understands and read production drawings, product requirements on the traveler, and know where critical characteristics are Reports any machine malfunctions or safety hazards
Perform preventative maintenance to equipment.
Follow Standard Industrial practice for working with composites and other materials.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education:
Requires a High School Diploma/GED or appropriate certifications may be substituted to meet educational requirements only.
Experience:
2 – 3 years.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Previous CNC Programming experience preferred
Previous CMS knowledge
Previously operated 5-axis CNC machines
Understanding of material properties & characteristics
Working knowledge of various measuring gages: micrometers, pin gages, dial indicator, screw pitch gage, height gages and comparator stand/gage Advanced Computer Knowledge Ability to do trigonometry and geometrical math computations
Ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical people
Experience in laminating Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass, Kevlar, or other composites material
Experience in semi-repetitive specialized machine operations
Strong experience in machining tools
Ability to use hand tools and machinery
Ability to operate Fanuc Controls Ability to work closely with others in a team-oriented work environment
Able to follow instructions, sketches, blueprints, engineering drawings and manuals
Capable of problem-solving:
Exercises judgment, based on previous experience,practices and precedents, to identify and solve problems that arise.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to handle multiple projects and to work alongside peers
Ability to manage time to get work completed on schedule
Dependable and accountable with strong attendance, time-management skills, and a consistent work ethic
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment performing accurate and quality products
Possesses high mechanical aptitude
Attention to detail
Ability to follow instructions explicitly or innovate, depending on situation
