Machine Operator, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations
Provides safe and efficient routine and non‑routine maintenance to Fed Ex express aircraft in accordance with Fed Ex policies and procedures and FAA regulations using machine tools such as drill presses, lathes, and milling machines to rework, finish, and produce metal parts.
Essential Functions- Combines knowledge of metals with skillful handling of machine tools to make precision machined aircraft parts and aircraft tooling.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma/GED.
Minimum ExperienceThirty‑six (36) months machinist experience in a machine shop.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of machine shop maintenance operations and procedures required. Have a working knowledge of all aspects in machining techniques, operations, and procedures used in a machine shop environment. Knowledge and experience in the servicing of lathes, mills and surface grinders. Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy aircraft related components, parts and equipment.
Job ConditionsMust be willing to work odd work weeks, rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays. FAA covered safety sensitive position. Subject to regulatory alcohol & drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine & opioids. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Complete Welding certifications, and all required OJT, Aircraft and Machine Shop training to obtain FAA Repairman’s certificate 18 months from hire date.
Preferred QualificationsDesired location:
Indianapolis, Indiana. Employees will be required to work at the Fed Ex location five days a week.
