Grinding Operator

Hoehn Plastics, Inc. is seeking dependable, safety-minded Grinding Operators to join our operational team in the Grinding Department.

Grinding Operators play an important role in preparing and processing plastic materials throughout our manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on, team-based position where operators rotate through various functions within the Grinding Department, including material sorting and preparation, parts cleaning, grinding and shredding operations, staging, and material handling.

What You’ll Do

Grinding Operators rotate through assigned functions within the department to support safe, efficient material processing and production.

  • Inspect, identify, sort, separate, clean, and prepare plastic materials and parts according to production requirements.
  • Start up, operate, and monitor grinding and shredding equipment.
  • Inspect materials throughout processing to ensure they meet established quality standards.
  • Safely use hand tools, small power tools, and other equipment required for material preparation and processing.
  • Stage, label, organize, move, and store materials to support production flow and inventory accuracy.
  • Safely operate material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
  • Monitor equipment and communicate quality concerns, equipment issues, or process abnormalities to the Shift Lead.
  • Maintain accurate production information and complete required documentation.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work and staging areas.
  • Follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work closely with team members and leadership to support production goals and efficient workflow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable performing physical work, and willing to learn and rotate between different responsibilities within the Grinding Department.

  • Ability to follow written instructions, work requirements, and established procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately identify and sort materials.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to safely use tools and work around industrial equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance.
  • Previous forklift or material-handling equipment experience is preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, material processing, or industrial experience is beneficial but not required.
Physical & Work Environment

This is an active, hands-on position within a warehouse and industrial manufacturing environment. The role requires extended standing on concrete, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, repetitive activities, and safely operating tools and equipment. Team members must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs. as needed.

The work environment may include exposure to noise, temperature extremes, dust, forklift traffic, and industrial processing equipment.

Certain work areas may contain strong magnetic fields that could affect medical devices, including implants and pacemakers.
