2nd Shift One Pass Line Operator

Hours:

2:00PM-10:00

PMPay Rate: $19.03 per hour Position Summary

The One Pass Line Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring extruder one-pass line equipment used to coat fiber material with poly and laminate coated material to foam. The operator ensures equipment is properly set up and running efficiently while maintaining product quality, completing production documentation, and following all safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review work orders and production requirements and assign tasks to line helpers as needed.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor extruder, coating, laminating, conveyor, feed roll, slitting, and related equipment.
  • Load and unload work rolls using a hoist/crane, position rolls in chucks, install shafts, and thread material through the machine.
  • Fill machine reservoirs with coating materials such as poly pellets and maintain appropriate material levels.
  • Set machine controls, speeds, feed rates, cams, stops, and automatic feeding devices according to production specifications.
  • Start and cycle equipment to verify proper operation and make adjustments as needed during production.
  • Monitor adhesive/coating profiles, coating thickness, material appearance, and overall product quality.
  • Inspect finished and in-process material for defects, flag nonconforming material, and make machine adjustments as necessary.
  • Monitor raw material rolls and perform or coordinate splices to maintain continuous production.
  • Operate slitting equipment to cut boards/material to the required length.
  • Ensure all operators are in the correct positions and that the line is ready before beginning production.
  • Complete required production paperwork, including start/stop times, downtime, and raw material information.
  • Take responsibility for producing quality products that meet customer specifications.
  • Perform routine housekeeping and clean‑up duties as assigned.
  • When the line is down, assist with product repair on material identified by Quality Assurance.
  • Participate in production meetings, the company idea program, and other continuous‑improvement activities.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, instructions, and production specifications.
  • Good organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to operate machinery and make adjustments based on product and equipment conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and rotate through different positions and tasks within the production cell.
  • Ability to work overtime before or after scheduled shifts and on weekends as needed.
  • Ability to safely handle and move materials throughout the production process.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing and walking approximately 90% of the workday.
  • Bending approximately 5% and climbing approximately 5% of the workday.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and move materials, including skids weighing approximately 80-100 lbs. when required, with typical lifting averaging approximately 35 lbs.
  • Ability to lift materials from approximately 2 feet in height at the loading area.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery, conveyors, hoists/cranes, and slitting equipment.
  • Work is primarily performed while standing; no routine kneeling is required.
Working Environment

Enclosed manufacturing environment with temperatures generally ranging from 55°F to 100°F, with higher temperatures possible near the oven for short periods. Noise levels may reach approximately 94 dB. Frequent standing and walking with exposure to operating production machinery. Chemicals used may include acetone for cleaning rollers and bleach/water for sanitation.
