ALUMINUM TIG WELDER Southeast side of Indianapolis
General Devices is looking for an experienced TIG Welder to join our fabrication team. Strong experience welding aluminum, stainless and mild steel, and the ability to work from blueprints and detailed specifications is a must. Successful candidates can demonstrate an understanding of using fixtures to maintain dimensional tolerances as well as techniques including heat sinks and clamping.
We manufacture products for world‑class customers in the medical, telecom, data center, defense, and industrial markets.
Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, Overtime Available
Pay Range: Based on experience.
What You Will Do- TIG weld aluminum components and assemblies according to blueprints, drawings, and job specifications.
- Fabricate finished metal products and welded assemblies for a variety of customer applications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, schematics, and job travelers.
- Fit and position components prior to welding to ensure proper alignment and dimensional accuracy.
- Measure materials and completed assemblies to verify conformance to specifications.
- Inspect completed welds for quality, appearance, penetration, and dimensional requirements.
- Perform testing and visual inspection of welds to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Identify and correct fit-up, fabrication, and welding issues as needed.
- Use welding equipment, fabrication tools, grinders, and measuring devices safely and effectively.
- Maintain welding equipment and keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
- Work independently while maintaining production and quality expectations.
- Support other production departments when welding workload and project needs require.
- 4+ years of welding or metal fabrication experience preferred.
- Previous aluminum TIG welding experience required.
- Strong TIG welding skills with an emphasis on weld quality and consistency.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and weld symbols.
- Experience with welding tools, fabrication equipment, and measuring devices.
- Ability to accurately measure parts and verify dimensional requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good problem‑solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to successfully complete an aluminum TIG weld test as part of the interview process.
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
- Arm and hand mobility and manual dexterity required for precision welding.
- Ability to bend, reach, position, and handle fabricated components during the welding process.
- Ability to lift 30–40 lb intermittently.
- Ability to safely handle metal parts, welded assemblies, and fabrication equipment throughout the production process.
