Slitter Set-Up Associate – 2nd Shift Butler, IN Starting around $21-$23/hour, based on experience Full-Time | Direct Hire
An established steel-processing manufacturer in Butler, Indiana is looking for an experienced, dependable Slitter Set-Up Associate to join its second-shift production team. This role works closely with the Slitter Operator to prepare steel and equipment for production. The Set-Up Associate prepares slitter knives according to the work order, helps ensure the correct material is loaded, verifies that each setup is completed properly, and supports the safe and efficient operation of the slitter line.
The ideal candidate will bring previous manufacturing, machine operation, steel-processing, mechanical, or similar industrial experience and be willing to learn all functions of the slitter operation

Monday-Thursday: 4:30 PM-3:00 AM
Friday overtime may be scheduled based on production needs. When required, Friday hours are 4:30 PM-1:00 AM

- Prepare and set up slitter knives according to production work orders
- Ensure setups are completed accurately before production begins
- Verify that the correct steel and material are being prepared for each job
- Help safely load and position material into the slitter
- Work closely with the Slitter Operator throughout setup and production
- Learn all functions of the slitter line and support different areas as needed
- Monitor setup accuracy and help identify potential problems before production
- Follow established safety procedures when working around steel and industrial equipment
- Keep the work area clean and organized
- Assist with other parts of the slitter line when setup work is not required
- Perform other production duties as needed
- Previous manufacturing, production, machine operation, steel-processing, metalworking, mechanical, or similar industrial experience
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around production equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow work orders and setup instructions accurately
- Willingness and ability to learn all functions of the slitter operation
- Good problem-solving and communication skills
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- A safety-focused approach to working around machinery and steel
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
- Ability to stand throughout a 10-hour shift
- Reliable transportation to Butler, Indiana
Previous slitter experience is preferred but not required for someone with strong related experience and the ability to learn the equipment.
Work EnvironmentThis is a hands-on production role in a steel-processing manufacturing environment. Candidates should be comfortable:
- Standing for the duration of a 10-hour shift
