Smoker Craft, Inc currently has an opening for an Industrial Machinist
! This position is located in New Paris, IN.
Shift Schedule is 6 am to 2:30 pm, Monday-Friday.
Job Description:Build and maintain machine tools and industrial machines. The machinist will also be responsible for following technical drawings and using knowledge of mathematics to produce precision parts for all departments as required.
Responsibilities include:- Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
- Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or dial calipers.
- Review and/or create drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
- Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
- Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
- Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
- Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
- Operate welding equipment.
- Assemble electromechanical or hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
- Design fixtures, tooling, or experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
- Design tools, fixtures, or other devices for production equipment.
Skills:
- Proficient in Stick, MIG, & TIG welding
- Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in math
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks
- High school degree or equivalent
- Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly
- Working knowledge of safety protocols
- Apprenticeship or vocational training preferred
- Prior experience with machine tools and industrial machines.
- Excellent knowledge of material properties.
