Die Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift

Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay:$22.00 – $23.50 per hour (DOE)
Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 am-3:30 pm)

First Call Professional is hiring a skilled Die Maintenance Technician for an industrial manufacturing client in Edinburgh, IN. This is a direct hire opportunity offering competitive pay and long-term stability.
This role focuses specifically on press machine die maintenance (not injection molding). We are seeking candidates with hands-on experience in grinding, welding, sharpening, and repairing metal dies used in press operations.
Minimum of 6 months related experience required.
Key Responsibilities- Repair, maintain, and modify press machine dies
- Perform grinding, sharpening, and welding (TIG/MIG preferred)
- Fit and assemble parts to build, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tooling
- Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour accuracy, and defects
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using measuring tools such as:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Dial indicators
- Gauge blocks
- Study blueprints, sketches, models, and specifications to plan sequences of operations
- Set up and operate conventional and/or CNC equipment including:
- Lathes
- Milling machines
- Grinders
- Visualize and calculate dimensions, tolerances, and assembly specifications
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months of die maintenance experience (press environment required)
- Grinding, welding, and die sharpening experience
- Strong understanding of metallic properties and fabrication processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience operating manual or CNC machine tools
- Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
